Ugly Squeeze Site Gets High Conversion

This morning my Manager came in, pretty disgusted at something that I experienced done.

The night before I experienced sent out an email with a link to a squeeze web page that I experienced developed, and she was entirely repulsed by how ugly it was! She told me that with the fabulous graphic designer that we have obtainable in-house, I could have experienced a much greater seeking squeeze site made for that campaign I was doing.

She even went on to say that my web designer was hurt mainly because I experienced made such an abomination! (It turns out he wasn’t hurt, he was really happy to see me develop such a piece of dirt as it secures his job further)

I patiently listened to her continue on about how I ought to provide superior excellent websites for that experience of my visitors. Following she was accomplished and had gone to work, I looked at the stats how the squeeze page had produced overnight:

55% conversion rate!

Why on earth would this ugly squeeze web site get a whopping 66.22% conversion rate when well made pages struggle to get 20%? Well, I’ll let you in on the secret. The visitors have been “sold” ahead of they even got for the squeeze web page!

You see, I was emailing my very own visitors about an affiliate system that was happening within the next couple of days. In my e-mail I explained all of the rewards of applying this program, and told them that if they desired to learn additional then they necessary to sign up at that squeeze web site.

When people went to the squeeze web site they by now knew they wanted to sign up. Obviously some backed out (33.78% to be exact), but that could have been for different reasons, one perhaps being how ugly my internet page was!

So what can we find out from this interesting experience?

1. Relationship building is key

In case you don’t have a good romantic relationship with your visitors then selling are going to be Extremely hard.

2. Pre-selling is king

As my very good friend Todd Gross says, pre-selling is crucial to making a ton of cash as a result of affiliate marketing (or by means of advertising your own goods).

Where do you pre-sell? Everywhere! In particular your emails, your videos, your blog posts, your articles, and anywhere else ahead of the visitor is asked to invest in.

Mainly because the visitors on the ugly squeeze page graphics were pre-sold, they didn’t care how poorly written and ill conceived the web page was – they previously knew they desired it.

3. Prettiness is not usually important

In simple fact, I’ve discovered that the additional “good looking” a site is, the lower it performs.

Possibly this is due towards truth that the graphics are distracting, or maybe it’s because small (or no) time is put into delivering a helpful, consistent, valuable message. Whatever the cause, I suggest you try removing the header graphics, fancy animated gifs, and other “pretty-factors” from your squeeze and sales pages and see what happens.
