any sort of data or figures would be very helpful or any reference to the size of this market would be very helpful as well.

Use the Google Adwords Keyword tool,
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal,
to search in the UK for eBooks, this will give you good data.
Just select the UK in the "Results are tailored to" section.
